REMODEL-TZ research program in action

Empowering Research, Strengthening Health, Combating Infectious Diseases

A multidisciplinary approach to research and healthcare, focused on addressing critical public health challenges — particularly tuberculosis and multidrug-resistant TB — across Tanzania.

Program Overview

Research designed around real patient and system needs

REMODEL-TZ's program brings together physicians, laboratory scientists and health-systems researchers under one roof. Rather than working in silos, our teams design studies collaboratively — combining clinical insight, molecular science, and community knowledge to answer the questions that matter most for TB and MDR-TB control in Tanzania.

Every study we run is built on a foundation of rigor, transparency, and respect for the people and communities who participate in it.

Key Practice Elements

Six pillars of our program

1

Evidence-Based Research

Conducting rigorous, hypothesis-driven research that addresses urgent public health questions.

2

Clinical Trials & Studies

Focused on MDR-TB regimens and HIV-related sepsis interventions, run to the highest ethical standard.

3

Capacity Building

Training programs and postgraduate education that grow Tanzania's next generation of researchers.

4

Health System Integration

Identifying and addressing barriers in healthcare delivery, especially for co-occurring conditions.

5

Community Engagement

Outreach and awareness programs that keep patients and communities at the center of our work.

6

Innovative Solutions

Developing new diagnostic and treatment protocols suited to real-world, low-resource settings.

Our Core Practices

The values that guide every study we run

Hypothesis-Driven Research

Every project starts with a clear, testable question tied to a real health need.

Multidisciplinary Approach

Clinicians, scientists and public health experts collaborate from design to dissemination.

Ethical & Professional Conduct

Participant welfare and informed consent guide every stage of our research.

Innovation & Excellence

We pursue methods and technologies that push diagnostic and treatment standards forward.

Transparency & Shared Knowledge

Findings are shared openly with partners, policymakers and the communities we serve.

Inclusivity & Diversity

Our teams and study populations reflect the diversity of the communities we work in.

Our Impact

A private, independent practice striving for excellence in personalized, compassionate care

We measure success not just in publications, but in the real difference our research makes to patients and health systems across Tanzania.

  • Improved Health Outcomes — faster diagnoses and better-matched treatment regimens.
  • Capacity Building — a growing pool of Tanzanian-trained research leaders.
  • Community Benefit — stronger local health infrastructure and awareness.
  • Policy Influence — evidence that shapes national and regional health guidance.
